Their First Mickey Ears

I went over to Liz's a couple of weeks ago and dropped off the kids first set of Mickey Mouse Ears. They loved them and wore them for a while. Each had their names on the back in gold thread. Quinn and Hope still have their first ears also. A very fun time by all. If you look real close you can see a very pregnant Liz in the background. Also, the bottom picture of Emerson was taken by Nathan. He likes to take pictures with my camera whenever I go over there. The other one of his mom and sister was taken by him also.

Piano Recital 2008

Quinn and Hope had their Paino recital a couple of months ago. They did very good and here are some videos of them.

We are very proud of both. Hope did her song for Daddy and Quinn chose his song because he liked it in the movie Curious George.

Good-Bye to School 2007-2008

Here are a couple of goodbye shots for the school year 2007-2008. The first is Hope at her Spring Concert. Turn down your color as all the kids were in Tie-dyes. They sang a lot of songs from the 60's. This is a good-bye to the 8th graders, but everyone gets involved. They spend a lot of time learning their songs. The kids where all into it and it was a very fun show. I can't wait to see what they do next year. Quinn's farewell to school was a trip to the Baltimore Inner-Harbor. The whole fifth grade went and I was able to take the day off to supervise. We had a very fun day running around the museum, aquarium and all around the inner harbor. We saw a great dolphin show and had a good lunch and really had a great time. Always to short. We need to get back there with the family for a couple of days. This picture is at the dolphin show with one of his friends.

Hope's First Holy Communion

A couple of weeks ago Hope celebrated her first Holy Communion. It was a very nice ceremony where her and 40 or so of her friends dressed up and walked downt he aisle. These kids have been working hard learning all they need for this ceremony. We had a lot of family come out and we had a great day. Congrats, Hope!

Man's Best 'Weather' Friend

I might have talked about this before, but the nicest Christmas present we received this year was from Poppa Maz. When we were down in NC last I saw he had made himself a fish weather vane that he put up on his shed. I told him it was great and kinda left it at that. Well for Christmas he made one for us, but the big kicker was that instead of a big fish as the wind turner, he made it in the form of a Beagle. Pops helped me get it up on the shed this past weekend and it looks great. Even Potter digs the new art in the yard. I caught him staring up at it for a while. Which is strange because if he can’t smell something he usually does not bother with it. I hope he doesn’t start howling at it next. Thanks Pops!

Hope's 8th Birthday

Happy Birthday to Hope. Hope had her 8th birthday last week. Feb, 25. It’s all going by so fast. For this year, Hope decided that she would like to have her friends over to the house for a party. We decided that the theme would be a Hope’s Favorites’ party. This included watching her favorite movie, doing her favorite crafts and having her favorite food. She invited 16 of her closest friends. We had a very fun time. They also played WII High School Musical sing a long and everyone had a blast. We might need to have a quieter party next year. My ears are still ringing from all the noise. One more time though honey, Happy Birthday.

Quinn's Cub Scout Days are Over...

We had one of those milestone events this past weekend. Quinn and I attended his last Blue and Gold Banquet with his Cub-Scout Pack. For those that don’t know, the Blue and Gold banquet is held each year as a Crossing Over ceremony for the second year Webelos going into Boy Scouting. Quinn and his den-mates are now Boy Scouts. Quinn has been working 5 years for this. He started in first grade as a Tiger scout and has stuck with it through Wolf, Bear and 2 years of Webelos. During his time in Cub’s he has camped many times. We have gone to such places as French Creek, Dutch Wonderland and the wonderful Cub and Boy Scout camps in the area. We have attended two summer camp weekends and had a blast at each. Quinn and his friends have hiked in many places and have attended a number of the Valley Forge Encampments.
Quinn’s den has gone to museums, sporting events, and other things for fun. They have worked on many service projects such as food drives, township clean-up days and helping out where ever they can. We were even asked to help out as volunteers for the Zoo’s Halloween days. We helped the smaller kids make crafts.
It was a great
experience for Quinn and the other boys. As a parent it made me proud to watch him grow up and mature as a leader in the Cub Scout Pack. The last year it was great watching Quinn and his friends, now being the older boys, helping the younger guys out. This has been a very positive experience for all of us.
Quinn’s next challenge is to get involved with the Boy Scout Troop. His first meeting is this Tuesday and should be fun. Our first camp-out is coming up in two weeks. Very quick.
